Hong Kong (Agenzia Fides) – This year too, the Catholic community of Hong Kong will take advantage of the upcoming Book Fair as an opportunity to proclaim the Gospel and bear witness to the newness of the Christian experience. The Hong Kong Book Fair, which has become an event of international significance over time, will be held from July 16 to 22 and will feature a significant and well-organized presence of Catholic exhibitors. In line with the key words of the Jubilee, according to the Hong Kong diocesan weekly bulletin, KungKaoPo, the Catholic stands at the Fair will have the identifying and inspiring motto “Pilgrims of Hope”. The “team” of Catholic exhibitors will be composed of the Catholic Centre, the publications associated with the weekly KungKaoPo, the Catholic Truth Society of Hong Kong, the Diocesan Audio-visual Centre, and Spring Publications/Hong Kong. Auxiliary Bishop Joseph Ha Chi Shing, OFM, will be present at the opening of the Catholic section of the Book Fair. The section will have a specific area dedicated to the Jubilee. In addition, the “Rosary Laboratory” will be available, where visitors can order a personalized bracelet for praying the Holy Rosary.Spring Publications will set up two stands in the exhibition area, one of which will be reserved specifically for the non-baptized. They will be able to read books, listen to the Gospel reading, and discuss topics and issues affecting daily life, such as the pressing needs parents face in the growth and education of their children. Those responsible for the project believe that participation in the Book Fair is a favorable opportunity to establish connections with new people and discreetly announce the newness of Christianity. Young people are encouraged to use digital tools such as the English version of the “10 Minutes with Jesus” app, a project launched in 2018 by the teacher María Feria and Father José María García de Castro of the Prelature of Opus Dei.In addition, the Catholic Centre will celebrate its 80th anniversary at the Book Fair with various initiatives, including the installation of a sales point for decorative objects—icons, rosaries, and terracotta Stations of the Cross—produced by parish groups in Hong Kong.
