Article 26 of Regulation (EU) 2024/1263[1] introduces a national escape clause allowing Member States to deviate from their net expenditure path in the event of exceptional circumstances, provided that fiscal sustainability is not endangered in the medium term.
- 1.How does the Commission define ‘medium term’ in the context of fiscal sustainability under this regulation?
- 2.In the Commission’s view, what period of time is considered a reasonable duration for an ’exceptional circumstance’ under Article 26?
