45 years ago, on 2 August, the Italian people experienced one of the darkest days in their history. The full ferocity of terrorism struck the city of Bologna, with an attack that destroyed the train station, killing 85 people and wounding another 200.
Today, our thoughts go out to the victims’ families and all the people of Bologna, and we join them in their grief and demand for justice. The Government will continue to do its part on the path to get to the full truth about the brutal attacks that shook the nation in the period following the Second World War, starting with its efforts, alongside the other administrations concerned, to transfer declassified documents to the Central State Archive, in a spirit of cooperation with the associations of victims’ families.
