Highlights – FEMM-EUDS joint exchange of views on the occasion of the Gender Equality Week 2025 – Special committee on the European Democracy Shield

On Wednesday, 5 November 2025 from 15 to 16 CET, the Special Committee on the European Democracy Shield (EUDS) and the Committee on Women’s Rights and Gender Equality (FEMM) will hold a joint exchange of views titled “Radical movements advocating against gender equality such as manosphere, causing interference with European democratic processes”.

On Wednesday, 5 November 2025 from 15 to 16 CET, the Special Committee on the European Democracy Shield (EUDS) and the Committee on Women’s Rights and Gender Equality (FEMM) will hold a joint exchange of views titled “Radical movements advocating against gender equality such as manosphere, causing interference with European democratic processes”.
Misogynistic tactics – often amplified by platforms and algorithms – are currently situated in a wider, illiberal puzzle, where they are used as tools to push anti-democratic content and actions, threatening European democratic processes by harming both its voters and representatives.
In light of the EP Gender Equality Week, two experts will explore the multifaceted tactics and aims of radical movements against gender equality in the broader context of democracy in the EU.
