Statement by President Meloni on the anniversary of the death of Enrico Mattei

63 years have passed since the tragic death of Enrico Mattei. A visionary, a manager and a great Italian who brought prestige to Italy, contributing to the nation’s economic and industrial growth. His foresight on energy policy and in establishing cooperation with other states reminds us of our nation’s potential to build bridges and create prosperity for peoples.

Still today, his work inspires the actions of our Government, as reflected in the ‘Mattei Plan’, an ambitious project we have been investing in since we first entered office, with the goal of building equal partnerships with other nations, starting with the African continent. 
We are supporting this initiative with determination and resolve, as great opportunities are also born from being aware of and believing in our abilities.

As Mattei himself said: “Ingenuity is seeing possibilities where others see none”.
