The United Nations Human Rights Council adopted 37 resolutions at its third and last session of 2025, the sixtieth since the founding of the Council.

The most newsworthy resolution adopted during the session was the one on human rights in Afghanistan, adopted by consensus, which calls for an independent investigative mechanism into human rights abuses in Afganistan, a long-time priority for Iceland.

Thirty of the thirty-seven resolutions adoped by the Council in September were adopted by consensus.

Iceland was elected to the Human Rights Council last year for the term 2025-2027. Previously Iceland served on the Council in 2018-2019. All statements delivered by Iceland during this session can be found here.
