Written question – Actions to strengthen the resilience of European crisis infrastructure – E-001795/2025

Question for written answer  E-001795/2025
to the Commission
Rule 144
Dimitris Tsiodras (PPE)

Infrastructure in the EU – such as energy, telecommunications and transport networks – is particularly vulnerable to significant risks, threats and extreme situations. At the same time, the impact of crises is exacerbated by the interconnection and interdependence of this infrastructure. Such crises can cause widespread damage with serious repercussions for citizens and the economy, as seen this week with the power cuts in Spain, Portugal and parts of France.

In light of the above, can the Commission say:

  • 1.What steps will it take to strengthen the resilience of European infrastructure and how will it help increase investment and mobilise funding to this end?
  • 2.How will it support Member States with regard to preparedness and planning, including identifying, assessing and responding to similar risks and threats, which may affect European infrastructure and the operation thereof?
  • 3.Is it looking into the possibility of drawing up updated risk and threat response plans?
