The Arctic Security Policy Roundtable (ASPR) took place in Iceland from 21-22 May. Senior officials from the Ministries of Defence of the United States, Canada, and the Nordic nations, including representatives from the Faroe Islands and Greenland, attended the event.
The meeting focused on enhancing defence cooperation among the seven Allies, a necessity driven by Russia’s military buildup. The recent inclusion of Finland and Sweden in NATO has further strengthened regional defence cooperation, aiming to bolster the Alliance’s deterrence and defence capabilities.
The Directorate of Defence organised and chaired the meeting. Following the meeting the participants visited the Keflavik Security Zone for briefings and a tour of the area.
