AFRICA/SENEGAL AND MAURITANIA – Appointment of new Director of the Pontifical Mission Societies

Vatican City (Agenzia Fides) – On June 23, 2025, Cardinal Luis Antonio G. Tagle, Pro-Prefect of the Dicastery for Evangelization (Section for First Evangelization and New Particular Churches), appointed Fr. Raphaël Ndiaye, of the diocesan clergy of Kaolack, as National Director of the Pontifical Mission Societies (PMS) of Senegal and Mauritania for the five-year period 2025-2030.Born in 1968 in Fass Koffé, Senegal, Father Ndiaye was ordained a priest in 2000. From 2000 and 2003, he served as Vicar in Foundiougne, then served as director of the Apostolic Works and National Chaplain of the JOC (Jeunesse Ouvrière Chrétienne) until 2016.After a sabbatical year serving in the Diocese of Montauban, France, Father Ndiaye returned to Senegal in 2018, where he was appointed parish priest of the Cathedral of St. Theophilus of Kaolack, a position he held until September 2024. He currently continues to serve as vicar general, coordinator of pastoral and liturgy, as well as coordinator of economic development and director of pastoral programs.(EG) (Agenzia Fides, 23/7/2025)
