The politics of preschool – intentions and decisions underlying the emergence and growth of the Swedish preschool provides an easily accessible overall picture of the political deliberations and decisions behind the expansion and development of the preschool system. It is based on inquiries, government bills and parliamentary debates during the period 1970–2014, and on works listed in the text and bibliography. The booklet also contains topical comments by ministers and others who have been or are responsible for preschools. It was commissioned by the Ministry of Education and Research and written by Barbara Martin Korpi, formerly Senior Adviser at the Ministry. This fourth edition has been updated at the Ministry of Education and Research to include what has taken place during the period 2006–2014.
