In the answer to written question E-001626/2025[1], Commissioner Várhelyi referred to Recommendation (EU) 2022/1431, which encourages Member States to monitor PFAS in a wide range of foods, and further referred to discussions on new maximum levels ‘once these data are available’. Point 8 of the above-mentioned Recommendation stipulates that Member States should provide the monitoring data on a regular basis.
- 1.For which years since 2022 have full data sets been compiled in accordance with Recommendation (EU) 2022/1431?
- 2.What conclusions can be drawn for consumer protection from the data collected to date, and in which regions have excessively high levels of contamination been detected?
- 3.By when will the entire dataset, including for the current year 2025, be completed?
