In an effort to step up mainstreaming of the disability rights across all policies, and in line with the EU’s and EP’s obligations under the UN Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities (UN CRPD), the first edition in 2023 and then even more so the second Disability Rights Week in 2024 were very positively received and encouraged us to continue.
With the aim to promote the political debate and implementation of the UN CRPD, the Disability Rights Week takes place around the 3 December, the International Day of Persons with Disabilities, and Committees, Policy Departments, Vice-Presidents, Questors and Directorates General are invited to organise hearings and other types of activities focusing on the rights of persons with disabilities in their respective policy and administrative areas. All events will be webstreamed, international sign language provided where technically feasible and documents made accessible.
