Question for written answer E-004132/2025
to the Commission
Rule 144
Oihane Agirregoitia Martínez (Renew)
On 7 June 2022, the European Parliament voted on the Report on EU islands and cohesion policy: current situation and future challenges (2021/2079(INI)).
That report contained a resolution proposing that an Islands Pact and a European action plan for islands be created, that they be in line with local needs for the specificities of those territories, and that they be drawn up with the participation of the authorities concerned across the various tiers of government, as well as other stakeholders.
In light of this, and of the need for continued dialogue with island territories to ensure that the European project touches down in, and is close to, those territories:
- 1.Has there been any follow-up on the commitments made in the resolution?
- 2.What is the Commission’s assessment of the possibility of developing an Islands Pact and a European action plan for islands?
- 3.What specific tools does it have to ensure the economic, social and territorial cohesion of islands, in line with Article 174 TFEU?
