Statement by President Meloni on final approval of the ‘Terra dei Fuochi’ decree-law

Today, the fight against the Camorra and waste traffickers has taken another fundamental step forward, with Parliament’s final approval of the ‘Terra dei Fuochi’ [‘Land of Fire’] decree-law. This is not merely a legislative milestone; it is a promise kept with the citizens of Naples, Caserta and the entire Campania region to give them back a clean and healthy environment to live in. In these first two months of the decree’s implementation, important results have already been achieved, as has also been acknowledged by the front-line judicial officers and public security forces who work on the ground every day. We shall continue to work, in terms of both enforcement and clean-up operations, to defeat organised crime and build a safer and cleaner Italy.
