Italy is providing Ukraine with concrete support, delivering industrial boilers and power generators to tackle the energy emergency caused by Russia’s deliberate attacks on civilian infrastructure, which are creating a humanitarian crisis in several major Ukrainian cities.
This was a commitment that President of the Council of Ministers Giorgia Meloni made to President Zelensky when they met in the margins of the European Council meeting in October 2025.
The first batch of 78 industrial boilers was delivered today and another 300 will arrive in the coming weeks, for a total of approximately 900 MW in thermal power capacity. The boilers are destined for damaged urban networks, hospitals and essential services. This humanitarian initiative by the Italian Government will provide enough heating capacity for approximately 90,000 homes or an urban centre of around 250,000 inhabitants.
At the same time, Italy has launched a programme to dispatch medium and high-power electricity generators. These generators will support hospitals, water plants and critical infrastructure in the event of blackouts.
These Government measures are in addition to the commendable private sector initiatives that are underway to send generators to Ukraine.
