Reliable grid and plant protection requires more than compliance with today’s grid connection standards. Fast commissioning, straightforward parameterization, remote access, and efficient maintenance are equally important for ensuring reliable operation throughout the entire service life of a power generation system.
With the UFR1002IP, ZIEHL offers a modern solution for grid and plant monitoring. The device continuously monitors voltage and frequency and complies with the requirements of VDE-AR-N 4105 through 4130. At the same time, it represents a significant advancement of the well-established UFR1001E.
Simple Commissioning and Intuitive Operation
A high-resolution color LCD combined with an integrated joystick enables fast and intuitive parameterization directly on the device.
Alternatively, all settings can be configured conveniently via the integrated web interface. This allows commissioning, diagnostics, and service tasks to be carried out remotely. Preconfigured application programs for various use cases further simplify commissioning and significantly reduce the time required for setup.
Improved Operational Transparency
The integrated Ethernet interface provides convenient access to measurement values and status information. The alarm history can also be viewed remotely.
An integrated real-time clock with power reserve assigns accurate timestamps to alarms and events, making them easier to trace. The alarm memory stores up to 100 events, including the cause of each trip and the corresponding reconnection time. This provides valuable support for service technicians during troubleshooting and fault analysis.
Reduced Maintenance Effort
Firmware and application updates can be installed directly via the integrated web interface, eliminating the need to return the device for software updates.
In addition, whenever the nominal system voltage is changed, the UFR1002IP automatically adjusts all relevant protection thresholds. This minimizes parameterization errors and simplifies adaptation to different applications.
Flexible for a Wide Range of Applications
The UFR1002IP is designed for use in distributed power generation systems, monitoring undervoltage, overvoltage, frequency, and other grid-related parameters.
When combined with the VG1200 interface unit, the device can monitor voltages of up to 1,200 V. This extends its application range, for example in installations with higher inverter voltages, without requiring additional voltage transformers.
A Modern Successor to the UFR1001E
Compared with the UFR1001E, the UFR1002IP offers numerous practical enhancements:
- Color LCD with intuitive joystick navigation
- Remote parameterization via the integrated web interface
- User-installable firmware and application updates
- Ethernet interface with Modbus TCP communication
- Remote access to the alarm history
- Voltage monitoring up to 1,200 V in combination with the VG1200
These features make commissioning, diagnostics, and maintenance considerably more efficient and convenient.
Conclusion
The UFR1002IP combines proven grid and plant protection with modern communication capabilities and user-friendly operation. Remote access, integrated alarm logging, user-installable updates, and Ethernet connectivity help reduce maintenance effort while simplifying the operation of distributed power generation systems throughout their service life.
